#139: Prelude to 2007

since this is my last post for 2006, i shall reflect. i hate doing controlled reflections in a controlled environment, but i dont mind reflecting now, out of my own free will.

6 Great Lessons Of 2006
1. Don't trust people, unless they give you good reason to.
2. Age doesn't matter when it comes to _______.
3. People generally don't really like hot pink.
4. Money brings out the ugliness in people.
5. Keep to the left when riding an escalator.
6. (this one was learnt from watching twit couple) If someone truly loves you, they won't care how you act and look like.

6 Great Regrets of 2006
1. Not going after ________.
2. Not going for youth camp.
3. Not posting about MOEGEPRGSETC yet
4. Not taking the step to mend a relationship.
5. Starting to ____.
6. Being an ass to my family now and then.

6 Great Moments of 2006
1. June Family Camp
2. Sydney trip
3. Congress (yes! so sue me.)
4. OBS
5. Winning 3rd at NBC
6. Afternoon outreach performances + prep

2006 was a year that i gained alot of insights into the kinds of persons some people are, and i also discovered more of who i really am.
2006 was also a year of great loss, pain, and sick realisations. but hey, i'll get over them eventually right.

so goodbye Two Thousand And Six, hello Two Thousand And Seven.

to make this sound absodramatica: come what may, and i'll just stick it out with god, my family and friends. really.

resolutions? later. maybe.

see you next year folks.

#138: Peeve of the Day

Singaporeans and Escalators

Singaporeans seem to wear the Kiasu mentality everywhere they go. Even when they ride the escalators. They have this tendency to spread themselves all over the escalator step and effectively block the way (even though they might happen to be a size 0).

Hello. Has anyone ever heard of "PLEASE KEEP LEFT"?

What irks me most is that somehow, people seem to be on Block-'em-Steady Mode when i am in a dreadful hurry. And this happened yesterday, when i was rushing back to isetan before net to exchange a purchase. I donned a sweet and polite (as sweet and polite an impatient person can get) and chirped, "Excuse Me!" to every single person standing in my path (on the right-hand side). some even had the nerve to glare at me as if I were the one lacking in common courtesy.

so please, for pete's sake,

PLEASE KEEP LEFT
when riding escalators

***

on a brighter note:
HELL I LOVE TOPSHOP.

i love their bags, their accessories, most of their clothes. i love the prints! the colors!
i love their shoes. their shoes. their shoes!

my black flats are retailing again, and im wondering if i should get another pair because i adore them so much. plus my current ones are wearing out (bought em early this year) and i really dont like the usual black faux leather ones much. the thing is that i wear my black flats so much because they match with like, everything. but the problem is that this year, ive accidentally stepped in so much mud/gunk/liquid hence the faux suede isnt in its former glorious splendor.

one vivid memory was on the david albritton afternoon outreach and on the way to the bus, i cleveryly stepped right into a puddle of muddy water. i moaned to marcus and nigel chua on the way that ZOMGZ LOOK AT MY SHOES and they were all, "no one can see". but i could! i can!

anyway. should i
a) buy the black shoes now whilst they're still retailing in my size
b) wait till my current black flats die, then search for worthy replacement

but the con for
a) they are $66
b) i may not find another lovely pair of black flats

how.

mum was going to them for me because she thought Topshop @ Isetan Scotts was having a 20% storewide sale. unfortunately, the 20% off only applied to the Exclusive-Members-Only-Sale-Day which was the day before, which we MISSED.

so no black shoes.

HOW.

#137: A Cause For Celebration

guess what.

papa and mummy bought me a shoe cabinet!
my very own shoe cabinet.
my very own shoe cabinet to own and to cherish, and to contain my very own shoes!

when i came home and beheld the 4-rack, tan brown, ribbed doored cabinet, i squealed and sputtered and pranced about with joy.

hooray hooray hooray.

unfortunately, the cabinet cant store all of my shoes because i really have a thing for them. a weakness for shoes. many people share my weakness, including my mum. seriously. my family has many many pairs of shoes in total. i shall count them when i have the time (and when im bored and grounded and hence have nothing to do)

#133: ARGH

isnt it amazing, that so much emotion: pent up frustration, regret and anger, can be contained in this singularly simple and uncrude four-letter word? ARGH.

on to the point:

oh god i feel even worse about missing youth camp now, after the accounts and summaries ive heard.

the topics sound so apt to MY LIFE.
plus there was a HOLLYWOOD THEMED DINNER. hell, i could have worn my blue boa which joanna knitted for me (unsuitable in singapore's weather, or for street wear see).

argh. argh. argh.

strangely nigel v seemeshink i like pirates just because i say "argh".
i know he doesnt read my blog, but anyhoos: WHAT? i think i dont really like pirates (havent met any), unless you mean Captain Jack Sparrow *eyes flutter*

#130: project runaway

well, that's what my mum's new friend in vietnam called it. when i realised what they were getting at (one with Project Runaway, another with Runaway Project)

i am happy: because Project Runway Episode 14 Season Finale, airs on Channel 5 next wednesday at 10pm.

i think so. and above all, i hope so.

actually, to you it doesnt matter because you either a) dont care, b) think Project Runway is crud, c) know Jeffrey already won anyways.

But,
I STILL HAVE TO WATCH IT ANYWAYS.

for now, for eye-rolling, for cringing, for laughs and for you.

#129: moping and griping cant get any better

currently, i am in Ho Chi Minh City, using someone else's computer. usually, i love using other people's computers (yes, the novelty, as ive mentioned before). unfortunately, in sweet Vietnam, viruses and trojans are rife in the virtual world. so every few seconds, an effing orange and red window pops up and goes

"A TROJAN HAS BEEN DETECTED IN C:/FFAEOAFHIOF/DFHODAOH/
The file that contains the trojan cannot be disinfected.
hablahblah, hablahblah, hablahblah."

at this, i'd click "delete" and hope for the best, because theres nothing worse than crashing your friend's computer.

to add on to this pop up frenzy, this computer has an amazing lag time. it takes about 5 seconds to change window. PLUS, im attempting to clear out my 4 email accounts (like, zomg! abigail doenst lead a double life - but a quadruple!). but thank god for gmail. if i had been using hotmail, i would have never been able to finish this millenium. (excuse the grammar)

to darken my black mood by three shades, I AM NOT AT YOUTH CAMP. so everyone is having fun in the sun in desaru and singing songs and giggling and laughing and i am HERE in VIETNAM using someone else's LAGGY, VIRUS-RIDDLED computer which I HOPE DOESNT CRASH.

it doesnt help that ive just been entrusted with a job to do, and it's a dirty one. as in not dirty-dirty, but dirty to me, because it may just kill my relationship with this friend.

but i guess catching up with old friends is something worth doing, even if it means missing youth camp (which i wasnt grounded from, for the first time ever! plus so many people that i'd wish would have gone are actually going this year). [okay. well actually, the sinking-disappointed-upsetupsetupset feeling is still settled at the pit of my stomach, and it probably wont go away until next youth camp. but for now, i'll just attempt (poorly) to console myself. stress and frustration is bad for one's complexion, you know.]

besides, it's totally made up to me as i have a few albums of pirated dvds at my disposal, so i was catching up on The List. for example, ive finally watched some of the movies that i've always wanted to watch. DONT LAUGH, but to name a few: charlie's angels, she's the man, step up, and other brainless shows.

ooh. im feeling alot better now too. i've just thrashed oceana at Minesweeper Flags - again!

Go Me. i pwnx0rs, even though i feel like shit.

p.s. i think im going to follow my friend to International School tomorrow, and to tell you the truth: I'm Damn Scared. the pseudo-americana accent is threatening to take over me.

i have no comment. initially, i attracted geeks.

What type of person do you attract?
Your Result: You attract artsy people!

Those free spirited artists with great imaginations find you interesting. They are usually interesting themselves, so its not a bad thing, but they CAN be a bit wifty and choose odd goals. If you like life to always be a bit 'different' from the norm, but not too extreme in any one direction, these are the people for you. If you seek logical decision making skills and good money management, you may want to change something in the way you appear. Artsy people are fun for adventure and exploring, so, have fun! (smoking weed helps too)

You attract Yuppies!
You attract geeks!
You attract models!
You attract unstable people!
You attract rednecks!

#127: an apology

im dreadfully sorry if this new pink skin is giving you a headache, or causing your eyes to bulge unnaturally. i'm really sorry for the bad color combinations, especially considering the font colors use in previous posts. (if you can't read properly, just highlight the passage. highlighting solves all) i'm also sorry because i stole some people's blog codes. perhaps you know who you are.

and finally, i'm sorry because i love my new layout.

now live with it.

#126: it's time to grow up

i had to deal with something, someone just now. and i am truly and thoroughly traumatised. i never want to be in that situation again. i shant disclose details, because it doesnt matter anyway. i never wanted to be in that situation either. i didnt need to know how it was like. i shouldnt have known how it was like.

but i guess it's time for me to grow up, and realise how things are really like. come out of the shadows, come out of the shelter.

now, i fully understand the phrase, "cry your eyes out".
